The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 46-year-old Devon Brown, who has moved from the New York State Department Of Corrections and Community Supervision's Cape Vincent Correctional Facility to an address on Valley View Road in Goshen.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Brown as a Level 2 threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Brown had sexual intercourse with his teenage victim in November 1990. He was convicted of first-degree rape in November the following year and sentenced to a term between four and 12 years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Goshen Town Police Department.
